If you’ve ever found yourself wondering why nothing seems to work out the way you intended or wanted, you might be a vibration match for disappointment. Let’s talk about it.
We all know that whatsoever we believe, is what we experience. So, when we find ourselves in one of those situations where perhaps we had high expectations of something, only to find that situation was a complete flop, disappointment strikes (yet again) *clenched teeth*. Any modern mindset guru might tell you that gaslighting yourself on a daily basis with affirmations will solve this issue. That by not reacting to your negative emotion associated with the disappointment will magically make these experiences not occur. Although there is a degree of truth to this method, it is really only one step of the process. The root of the issue won’t be solved purely by our actions alone. We need to determine the truth about why we feel comfortable with disappointment. Why whenever we experience failure, or rejection there’s admitfully a part of ourselves that just “knew it”.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be me” was a feeling which washed over me as I opened my email after months of waiting for the winner of a brand-new Winnebago. I sent a donation a couple of months back as tickets to a raffle. I daydreamed briefly from time to time, thinking how crazy cool it would be to just win the latest and most efficient travel van. I almost planned a whole new season of my life (in my mind) from this fantasy alone. I assumed I’d ought to start selling my things and “just see what happens”. (Taking delulu action and emotionally detaching from an outcome is something which many “manifestation” gurus will try to sell you. ” Perhaps I daydreamed a small handful of times throughout the waiting period. Today, I opened my email and thought to myself “I am so emotionally detached, whatever happens, happens”. And the winner is: (not me) (shocker). I took a breath and thought, “well, at least I wasn’t emotionally attached”. (Are you sure sweetie?? Because I think you were already willing to reroute your entire life dear…).
More importantly, there was a feeling in my stomach. A feeling of “knowing”. That it wouldn’t be me, that the odds were too slim, that I didn’t submit enough tickets ($100 for two tickets). I thought to myself “Maybe that guy deserves it the most / maybe he needs it the most.” For a moment, I almost believed myself. But after a few some analysis of considering why him, and why not me (comparison IS A THIEF, but in this case, it is enlightenment). The answer came to the surface by God’s greatest gift: discernment. Immediately: “It’s not because he is more deserving, or more needy, it is simply because he is a vibrational match. Many people assume that things like material wealth, beauty, status are perhaps based on deservingness or even greed. The truth is quite simple: that individual is operating at a frequency which is in direct contact with the frequency of that thing, place, circumstance, situation. They are operating on the same plane, while we are busy watching it, wishing it were us. (Don’t get me started on media, social media, and entertainment). It keeps us STUCK. By being a constant observer and wondering “why not me” we strip away all odds of it being us, as we create more and more energetic divide.
If we are constantly finding ourselves living in disappointment, whether you ‘ve experienced much of it in childhood, young adulthood or grownhood (?? whatever) by your external circumstances you can observe life as a clear mirror, that it is true, within your heart, you are indeed gripping tightly to disappointment. It’s ok to admit that just because you’ve “done a lot of healing work on yourself and you already know all the tricks” could still mean that evolving must continue on. The ego will tell us that we are already self-aware enough, spiritually enlightened enough, we already know better, what to do and how to do it. But the moment we allow ourselves to harshly accept these thoughts as truth, we limit our ability to expand. When my friend recently was telling me steps that I already knew to get out of a funk and into productivity, I felt a need to REACT “Oh, I already know that” (ego). My silly little ego may have already known, but it was not being taken into action. This reminder must humble us into submission to God’s desire TO HELP US. That friend was speaking prayers answered, and my first reaction was to reject what I already knew, and in this way, I was willingly rejecting my own prayer answered. Then, I would go on be disappointed when that thing I was working on wouldn’t work out, and my funk wouldn’t dissipate. The ego is a double edge sword, but that’s a conversation for another time.
If you want to know what you’re a vibrational match to, look at the people who you spend your most time with. Look at your living environment. Look at the foods you eat, the things you primarily spend your time on. Observe your habits, reactions, objections. Do you respect the people who you surround yourself with? Do they have qualities, traits, habits which you want to embody? Are they going where you wish to go (long term goals etc). Do they take care of themselves? Do they speak to themselves kindly? Do they experience success? Do they handle rejection well? Are they confident? If you find yourself answering NO to most of these, YOU yourself are not embodying any of which you most desire. Thus, leading to constant disappointment.
Journal & self-reflection prompts:
What is your earliest memory of disappointment, and how did it feel?
What did disappointment feel like every time thereafter?
When you experience disappointment, does it come with self-denial, low self-esteem, feelings of incompetence?
Who are you most disappointed in, and why
Sending courage your way,
